BAIUCA

BAIUCA

If witchcraft is “the set of beliefs and activities attributed to certain people called ‘witches’ who are supposedly endowed with certain magical abilities,” then Baiuca is a sorcerer. And it might look like magic, but it’s music: the Galician producer has become one of the most important alchemists when it comes to recovering traditional music and codes and bringing them to the present as well as to a potential future.

Avant-garde electronic sounds merge with the folkloric tradition of Galicia in the world of Alejandro Guillán, popularly known as Baiuca. Using Galician song, bagpipes, flutes, hurdy-gurdies or shells and other elements, he takes his homeland’s music to new sonic horizons from which he sees success after albums like Solpor and Embruxo. His spell goes on with his latest release, Barullo (2024), which will bring him back to our festival to bewitch the Mallorcan public with a well-known live show which goes beyond the music.
