AMURA
Friday 12

The band Amura was born at sea, during the days when five musician friends from different bands (L.A., Izal, Rels B) took breaks from their tours to sail in a “llaut” (traditional Mallorcan boat) around the coves of Mallorca. That’s when the idea of “what if we started a band” came up, turning from a wild proposal into reality. They naturally had to choose a nautical name. And thus Amura was born, referring to the bow sides of the vessel that take on the waves—not to fight them, but to ride them in a way that minimizes damage to the boat. Just like life itself.
These five friends are all highly experienced musicians with extensive careers: Alejandro Jordá with Izal, one of the bands that defined national indie for many years; Pep Mulet, Ángel Cubero, and Dimas Frías with L.A., a Balearic band with a tremendous international trajectory, touring in over 20 countries; and Toni Morales, who, in addition to his personal projects, accompanied Rels B on guitar during his massive 2021 world tour. Amura is making its festival debut with their first songs—timeless pop-rock tracks in Spanish—recorded at Mono Boost, the studio of Toni Morales and Jaime García (Sexy Sadie).
